Sometimes called Smooth Oxeye, False Sunflower is an extremely durable perennial that is native to Oklahoma and surrounding states. It tolerates several types of soil and a good amount of drought. A friend gave us this attractive double form several years ago and we absolutely love it. We do not have a cultivar name but we believe it is an older selection. From June through August it puts forth big showy golden-yellow Dahlia-like blooms. Double forms of flowers do not attract as many butterflies as their single forms but they do bring in some.
