Hibiscus coccineus

Often called Scarlet Rosemallow and Texas Star Hibiscus, this tall perennial is easy to grow and blooms early summer through fall. Its gorgeous red flowers only last a day but it produces so many buds, they are almost always present. Red Swamp Hibiscus is a good plant to use to play a trick on your friends and neighbors because its leaves look a bit like marijuana. As its name implies, it is tolerant of wet soils and additionally doesn?t seem to be bothered much by deer.
