Long-lived and easy to grow, Variegated Soloman?s Seal was named the Perennial Plant of the Year in 2013. Its showy green and white bicolored leaved adorn gracefully arching stems which are lined below in spring with pairs of white bell-shaped flowers. Although it takes a couple of years to form a nice clump, I consider this plant to be one the best shade perennials for Oklahoma. There is a huge clump in my parent?s yard near Vian, Oklahoma that has been growing strong since the mid 1980?s when I brought a small division form when I worked at Woodward Park in Tulsa. Variegated Soloman?s Seal also has nice yellow display of fall leaf color.
