I fell in love with Autumn Sneezeweed years ago when I saw nice stands of it growing along the Illinois River in eastern Oklahoma. We’ve grown it for several years in our Stillwater garden and are now able to offer it. A non-running, clump-forming native perennial, it is covered in late summer through fall with golden butterfly-attracting daisies. Autumn Sneezeweed has a pleasing round mounding form which looks great mixed with spiky bloomed plants in a mixed border. Despite its common name this plant is not a source of irritation for those who suffer from nasal allergies. Its name comes from the fact that its dried leaves were once used to make snuff that was inhaled to cause sneezing which was believed to rid the body of evil spirits.
