It’s always a joy to find types of Asters that do not grow too tall. Wood’s Blue is a selection that stays short and is covered with blue-purple fall blooms that have yellow centers. One of the earlier blooming asters, butterflies and other pollinators are continually drawn to it. With fine-textured foliage, it makes an excellent front of the border plant that is usually not fed upon by deer or rabbits. Information online is a bit confusing, but I believe this to be a selection of New York Aster, Symphyotrichum novi-belgii, Also, don’t confuse it with Symphyotrichum cordifolium which is known by the common name Blue Wood Aster.
