In the late summer of 2003, I was driving around Canton Lake in Western Oklahoma. I spotted this form of our native Louisiana Wormwood that stood out from the others because of its near white silvery color. With its rugged demeanor and vigorous nature, Canton Ghost Artemisia should be considered more of a utility plant rather than a refined garden plant. Don?t plant it in a fertile soil that is well watered. It can spread to form large colonies. Use it as a tall groundcover or for a patch of silver in an unirrigated, problem area where other plants will not grow. Also called White Sage, you can even mow this Artemisia.
