I think you could create an entire garden made up of the different types of coreopsis. There are species with lower spreading habits, several mid-sized border plants with a plethora of leaf textures, and then there is this species for the back of the border. As its name implies Tall Coreopsis is a towering perennial, the tallest member of the genus. Many gardeners like it because of its unique soft yellow daisies with brownish-red centers and desirable flowering period of mid-summer into fall. This tough and durable native provides nectar for butterflies and then later, seed for finches and other small birds. It can be cut back in early summer to get it to bloom at a shorter height.
