I was fortunate enough to hear Atlanta area garden designer Ryan Gainey speak back in 2010. He sadly died in a fire a few years later. He was a talented designer. This mum is an old fashioned type having single petals of soft pink with yellow centers. Mr. Gainy discovered this perennial pass-along selection and used it a lot in his designs. Mums can be coaxed into blooming at a shorter height if they are trimmed back by half in the early part of the growing season. July fourth should be the latest trim so they have time to form their flower buds for fall.
