Although it’s not really effective at repelling fleas like its common name suggests, Prairie Fleabane is effective as a butterfly-attracting ornamental. For a long period in summer and fall, its attractive gray-green leaves are topped by stems of white daisies with yellow centers that open from cool pinkish buds. Its small size makes it a perfect fit for rock gardens or for the front of raised beds. This native perennial thrives in dry calcareous soil in full sun.
