It is fun to think about an ice-related plant while it is currently quite warm outside so Frostflower certainly lends a cool vibe. This plant, which is also called White Crownbeard, grows at the edge of forests and produces white clusters of butterfly-attracting flowers in late summer and fall. In early December, usually when we start getting hard freezes, “Ice Flowers” are made when the ribbons of ice are formed as water from the roots is extruded through slits of the ruptured lower stems and freezes in the cold air.
