Purple Culver’s Root is one of my favorite perennials you hardly ever see available because it is a little hard to propagate. For this reason, it will probably be offered at our nursery only on the occasions when we are able to have enough. A selection of a native species that normally has white flowers in the wild, Fascination sports very noticeable spikes of violet lavender blooms. We’ve had this butterfly attracting plant in our garden since 2006 where it has performed wonderfully well. When it flowers in late spring and summer, visitors are constantly asking about it. This plant’s foliage is also attractive with the narrow leaves whirled around the stems, providing an interesting texture when it is not in bloom. A good cut flower and deer resistant, keep it deadheaded to prolong its bloom period.
